Our Chocolate Story

Our story is about Qudsia Karim, chocolatier and founder of Cocosia, and her endless passion for chocolate. She is a trendsetter and flavourful artist.

Passion turns into pursuit

The Cocosia journey began in 2013 when this sweet passion was enrobed into pursuit. Qudsia’s love and interest for chocolate took her beyond her studies an into a realm of chocolate. She took this endeavour from blissful chocolate making for her family and friends in her home kitchen to being listed as one of the Top 100 ‘Hot’ Asians in Dubai by Masala! Magazine, a popular lifestyle magazine in the UAE. Her exploration into the world of artisan chocolates fueled with her ability to experiment and concocting intriguing creations has resulted in Cocosia’s distinct selection of flavours and ingredient pairings.

Qudsia infuses her passion, ingenuity and expertise of chocolates to create customized flavours for clients by incorporating their ideas as well, to contribute to her repertoire of all the flavours she has created until now.

In the journey…

Qudsia has honed her chocolate magic at the following institutes:

  • Master course in the art of chocolate making at the Ecole Chocolat, Professional School of Chocolate Arts in Vancouver, British Columbia.
  • Courses in the field of chocolate artisanry and art from Barry Callebaut Academy and The French Pastry School in Chicago
  • Trained under Thierry Mulphaut, a well-known chocolatier of Strasbourg, France.

Qudsia is continuously exploring all that is there in chocolate science and technology around Europe, particularly France. Her profound knowledge in understanding different palates and flavours stems from learning about chocolate as a fine ingredient at various inspiring locations in Europe, like Baden Baden, Schwyz, Tain l’Hermitage, Normandy, Saint-Etienne, Paris and more.

In addition to this, Qudsia also trained under Thierry Mulphaut, a leading chocolatier in the French region of Strasbourg. In order to understand the finer details of chocolate making, Qudsia has toured various parts of the French region, attending institutes such as the Ecole de Grand Chocolat Valrhona.

Above all, Qudsia has an intricate understanding of the Dubai chocolate market, which is what helped her in developing the concept of Cocosia.

Cocosia’s mission is threefold; utilisation of only the best tools, delivering handcrafted products made by an expert team of artisans, and a passion to delight its customers.
